Holiday Dinner Table Massacre

What would a holiday be without ruining Grandmas Christmas dinner? A customer called me and wanted to share with me his Christmas dinner experience. We all remember going to Grandmothers house for the annual holiday meal. The time of year when Grand-ma-ma is placed on her high matriarch perch to enjoy her offspring devouring her holiday meal. This year was different. Grandma had made her annual glazed ham with all the fixings. Her Son, (we'll call Joe) wanted to bring a main dish of his own. He arrived with a Ham, marinated and baked in my El Diablo sauce. He said the feast was one of the most memorable because no one ate Grandmas holiday ham dinner. The word is Grandma was visibly discouraged that her main course had been destined to be left-overs. It's ok grandma, you can always use a little El Diablo Sauce on your leftover Holiday ham.

The thrill of the sale

There is something to be said about the term "Coffee is for closers". I picked a not so random beer drinking establishment with food. Cant call it a full blown resturaunt or a sports bar either. But the fact that i may have found a selling point that works. Eat there and bring a sample of sauce. Funny how people taste it, pause, taste it again and ask me if i can make 2o gallons a month. Is it that easy to just walk into a place give people what they want?....Repeat often. Wheres my coffee.

Eyes on the prize

Time to get the ground game going. I was in and out of the voting station in less than 5 minutes so I must change my game plan for the day and include some canvassing some local establishments to get more orders. This is the part I hate. Knowing that it rocks and will sell itself but expect it to happen all by itself. I have always been in consideration mode that prevents me to just go drop samples off with a business card. What is the worst that can happen? But then again, knowledge gained is more valuable than time lost. Eyes on the prize G. Eyes on the prize....

The possibility of chance

Funny concept. The possibility of one person out of literally millions happens apon a posting on a social networking site. A random chance that a person, interested in the possibility of some sort of connection would be the birds in the sight of one stone on a clear path to bowl them over like a 7-10 split. Now for those that are bowling challenged, a 7-10 split is the impossible possibility of killing 2 birds with 1 stone. But the possibility does exist as my serendipitous life seems to continue to unfold. What kind of laws of attraction are in play here. With the possibility of a new business opportunity being the other bird do I hook it to the left or to the right. The possibility of chance is infinite. I may be making more sauce soon.

The recurring moment of clarity

So, I am sitting in Jerseys/The Blue Chip on Saturday performing quality control (lunch) on the Mad Daddy sandwich that has my sauce. I never go in to see what other customers were ordering..... But i was close enough to them that I kept hearing the same thing. "Give me a Mad Daddy...." Or something of that nature. So I am eating, listening, and in the course of my lunch, say 30 minutes I hear 5 or 6 people comment on it. It being the sauce. It's those comments that keep me from giving up on this. Call it necessity, call it need. So I just approached a couple people that were eating it and simply thanked them for their support and gave them business cards. Is there a moral to this story, no. Well maybe, let me get back to you on that. I have often pondered the following statement. "How does one get rich? By taking other peoples money". Meanwhile, I have more sauce to make.

So, It's been about 4 years since I first signed in to this. Needless to say it sat there idle. I had the epiphany recently that I am still sitting on a goldmine. My people are calling, I have answered.
